For as long as I can remember I have had a passion for pots, loving the individual qualities and the imprint of style and energy that each potter leaves on their work.
Ideas for new pieces are conceived during walks along the coastline. I either hand build, working with slabs or coils of earthenware clay or create forms by throwing and altering . Each piece emerges slowly and ideas will evolve during the making process.
Evoking the coast within my ceramics drives me into the studio to explore the shapes, textures, colour and energy of my coastal environment. Making is a meditation for me and while it is wonderfully easy to get lost in the process, I endeavour to recreate these initial feelings of serenity or energy within the finished work, bringing these qualities to the viewer.

After relocating to North Devon, I am gradually getting organised and now my hands are itching to get back into some clay. I will be potting in a studio a few miles down the road and hopefully by summer I will also have a small studio in my garden. I have lots of new ideas so you will see quite a shift in direction although I will also continue to make the Zawn sculptures.
My pots can be purchased on line or in person from The Byre Gallery which is situated on the beautiful Rame Peninsula in South East Cornwall or through my online shop.
